Renton Historical Museum

Tour the Renton History Museum during festival week from 10:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday, and 12:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday. Admission is free during festival week.  

Stop by the Renton History Museum booth in Liberty Park during the weekend, July 22-24.  Learn about the Museum’s programs and activities.

Annual festivities begin with “The Magic Continues Kick-Off Event,” Wednesday, July 20, 6:00pm, at Tea Palace in the Renton Highlands, located at 2828 Sunset Lane NE.  Enjoy “A Taste of the Globe” and savor internationally-inspired heavy appetizers, complimentary wine and no-host bar. The program will include several rounds of “Thingo” – an interactive game all in the spirit of River Days and complete with prizes. Also presented, will be the festival’s annual Outstanding Service Award, given in recognition for continued service and dedication to Renton River Days.

Wenatchee Youth Circus Performs at Cedar River Park

Joining the line up of events and activities over festival weekend, the Wenatchee Youth Circus will host three performances at Cedar River Park (the park just east of I-405, by the Renton Community Center and Henry Moses Aquatics Center).   Easy access to Cedar River Park on foot from Liberty Park.  Tickets are $1/pp for children under 18, and $2/pp for adults 18 and over.  Tickets will be available for sale July 22 and July 23 in Liberty Park at the Festival Information Booth, and 30 minutes prior to each of the three show times at the Circus seating entrance in Cedar River Park.

This delicious breakfast event will be held on Saturday, July 23, from 7:30am-10:00am at the Renton Senior Activity Center. Menu will feature pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit cup, coffee, tea and orange juice. Prices are $6/pp for adults and children over 12, and seniors over 60 and children under 12 are just $4/pp. Renton Lions Club volunteers will have a donation box for used eyeglasses and hearing aids for distribution to the less fortunate. Parade Application process is closed.  Application deadline was July 8, 2011.
Spectators line S. 3rd St. from Shattuck Avenue to Liberty Park on July 24 at 10:00am. Parade features the theme “The Magic Continues!” and welcomes the annual return of Kent Phillips, of STAR 101.5 FM, as our Parade Announcer.  Participants are encouraged to create unique and nostalgic entries. Incorporating music is always a big hit with the crowds!

Volunteers are needed to assist with Parade morning set-up, staging, and monitoring intersections for safety.  Please call Tammy if you are interested in volunteering for the Parade.

SPECIAL NOTICE: River Days has a budget to provide a modest contribution to local or visiting marching bands, or other parade entries with musicians or bands and help offset expenses. Marching bands and musicians captivate the crowds. Our Parade Committee would like more entries like this to consider.

Sunday, July 24 - Rubber Ducky Derby

The last day of IKEA Renton River Days means it is time for the Rotary Club Rubber Ducky Derby! Thousands of little yellow ducks will wait at the Houser Street Bridge at 4:30pm, ready to jump into the water and race down the Cedar River. Purchasers of Rubber Ducky tickets will have a chance to support a local charity and win one of six valuable prizes at the same time. This much anticipated event benefits the Northwest Burn Foundation, the Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank, Communities in Schools of Renton, and other deserving area nonprofits.

For each $5 ticket, supporters have a chance to win one of several great prizes:
1st Place: $1,000 Cash donated by Renton Rotarians
2nd Place: $750 Cash donated by Renton Coil Spring Co.
3rd Place: $500 Gift Card donated by IKEA
4th Place: $500 Gift Certificate from King & Bunny's Appliance
5th Place: $400 Gift Certificate from Renton Western Wear

Tickets are available at the Renton Rotary Exhibitor Booth in Liberty Park during festival weekend July 22 - 24.  Rotarians will also be selling tickets along the Parade route on South 3rd Street on Saturday, July 23.  Tickets are also available for sale at select businesses such as Banner Bank, Warren, Barber, & Fontes, Renton Coil and Spring Co. and from any Renton Rotary Club member.
